Health 53: Health in Society: Finding Articles

This guide provides a starting point for your research for Health 53, Health in Society.

Article Search Strategies

  1. Select a few key terms (don't search for a sentence) that captures your topic. Example: gun violence, health disparities, climate change inequity, etc.
  2. If you're not finding enough search results with your search terms, think about taking a term away or looking for something more general. Example: If the search [Mission District gentrification displacement] isn't getting enough search results, consider using San Francisco instead of the Mission District, which is more specific.
  3. Use the "Subject Terms" link in each article record to find other articles about the same topic. See image below:Linked subject terms in article record
  4. Limit your search results to "Full Text" and "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" to make sure you're getting appropriate articles. You can also change your date range to make sure you get recent articles.screenshot of full text and scholarly journals limiters selected as well as date slider to limit date range
